Within cd-g creator, there is a setting for compression used on images. Am I supposed to be using the default or do I find and use the one that looks best when played in a player?

Graphic part of CD+G is not compressed. You may create CDG file (it requires the original MP3 soundtrack to exist with the same name), or you may create BIN file, ready to burn to CD+G disc.

But within the creator software there is an option for compression on the graphics. I am creating bin files to burn a cd.

Which i did burn a cd and took it to a karaoke bar, the music played but nothing showed on the screen.

I am using memorex cd-r disks, I burned at 1x

Do I need to use images with as small a file size as possible? Or try it with no images at all for the first disk to see if the words even show up?

There is no compression setting in Karaoke CD+G Creator -- where have you found it?

It would be a good idea to try if your drive can burn CD+G discs with Power CD+G Burner. And here is the tutorial on using Karaoke CD+G Creator:

I did use your burner, I bought them both.

I will find that compression setting and post a screen shot here. Maybe i am mistaken as to what the setting is for.

Ok, I had it wrong. It is the Conversion (you spelled it convertion) setting within the "display image" settings.

Also, i had chosen "insert content", i assumed that meant the image becomes part of the file that gets burned to cd, rather than linking to the image on my computer.

Some of the images I used could be up to 5MB, should I be taking them down in file size first?

Whatever I might be doing wrong, i need to fix it. I bought both of these products just to make one cd that we will use every year on the fourth saturday of january, which is coming soon.

Any ideas?

Image is encoded into CDG file -- you may choose whether you want it embedded in PK2 (project) file, or link to the file on the hard disc.

If you use image that is larger than 288x192 pixels, Karaoke CD+G Creator will rescale it. If it contains more than 16 colors, the number of colors will be reduced. You may scale down the image and do the color reduction in a specialized graphics application, as it may give better results.

Ok, that sounds like if I use an image that is too big and too high quality, the software will "fix" it to work. But the cd does not play graphics, just audio. Not even words are on the screen.
This is simply chalked up to "the player doesn't like burned disks"?

It probably means your computer drive does not burn CD+Gs correctly. Please email us a log file created by Power CD+G Burner. It is cdgblog.txt file located in 'C:\Program Files\Doblon\Power CD+G Burner' directory (if you are using Windows Vista please press Ctrl+L and the folder containing the log file will be displayed). This will allow us to find what the problem might be.

No Vista (thank God).
I will look for the log file when I get back home to that computer.
Is there a specific drive you recommend? I have no problem buying it, I just need to do it now to have this disk ready in two weeks.
Where do I send the log file? Here in the forum or email it to you?

added: I actually have about 10 computers at home, with about 7 different types of burners, should I use the trial of the burner software and make a cd from every pc and try them all?

Plextor are the best, Pioneer, LiteOn, and BenQ also work fine. There are problems with some LG and Sony drives. If you have more than one computer please try the software on it -- there is a good chance that one of the other drives will burn CD+Gs.

Mike (the seller) tests drives with our software, so they are guaranteed to work.

Yes I noticed your products mentioned at his web site, so I felt a little more comfortable about it being the right thing to buy. I bought the best burner he had.
Crossing my fingers.
thanks for the help, I will let you know if I still have issues.
