Having the ability to control how quickly each individual line peels off after it's sung is VITAL for a great looking production. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to control how long the last word of EACH line stays before peeling off, but if that is difficult to implement in software, then a global parameter would be better than nothing.
Another VITAL parameter to control how the screens look is the time from when the last line of the screen starts to when the beginning of the 1st line of the following screen starts it's re-entry. A specific number value field for this would be helpful as in EVERY song scripted, you'll want to control the timing of when that first line appears. For instance, if it's a ballad with more time between screens, you can have the following screen come in a little later.
How to: How would you handle the last screen in a verse or chorus in Overwrite mode before a clear screen command to continue the lines peeling off like the rest of the song in Overwrite mode? In other words, when I have the last screen before a longer instrumental with a clear screen command, this last screen has all of the lines stay on screen and peel off together. Would you put another "blank" screen with a 1 line non-character right after this last screen so that the last screen "thinks" that another screen is coming, but since it's blank, the last screen will steel peel off the individual lines like the rest of overwrite mode? |

Are we talking about Kaoke CD+G or Video Creator? With Video Cretor it is possible to define the number of lines that will be kept after the current line (ie. you may set it to 0 so the line disappears immediately after is has been finished, or you may keep more already sung lines).
Regarding the page before the instrumental break -- the method you describe should probably work. And again -- this should be like you describe in Karaoke Video Creator (all the lines before Clear Screen disappearing immediately). _________________ Piotr

hi,
I'm using Karaoke CD+G Creator Pro, not the video program. Is it possible to do all of the lyric timing and editing in the Video Creator and once I'm done, open up that same file in the CD+G Pro program and created the appropriate CD+G files?

I'm actually trying to create the same scripting style as used in the Party Tyme Karaoke Super Hits series. Check out Super Hits 9-13. The screens are well organized and the timing is really accurate. The ways the screens peel off and redraw creates a sense of space...
This is because of their tools ability to type in a millisecond value for the amount of time each lyric line stays onscreen. For instance, a default value of 350 to 500 milliseconds works for quicker songs, whereas up to 750 and 1000 milliseconds works for slower ballads. This should be adjustable for each line instead of globally to really fine-tune the scripting.
Secondly, there is a much larger numerical field value (for each s screen) for how long it it takes from when the last line of the current screen starts to how long it takes for the 1st line of the next screen starts.
Let's use Viva La Vida as an example...when the "and pillars of sand" line starts, let's just say a value of 5000 milliseconds or 5 seconds is entered into this field. This would mean that the line "I hear Jerusalem bell" would start 5000 milliseconds after the word "and" of the 4th line starts. Typically if there was a bar or 2 or even more of time between these 2 groups of lyrics, this numerical value would ever be higher - like 7000 or 10000 milliseconds. This is what creates space in the scripting and this is the control I'm looking for.
And I discovered
that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt
and pillars of sand
I hear Jerusalem bells
a-ringin'
Roman Cavalry choirs
are singin'
This can be a global field called "last line wait" that you can type in this millisecond value - typically 350 to 500 milliseconds. Then, the software times out it's value and creates this larger number for each field, for each screen, which can then be edited to be made shorter or longer. |

|
|
CD+G CREATOR PRO
Me again...
I use a default of 4 line screen and am wondering how to handle 2 and 3 line screens within this format to keep the lines like below...
Currently in your software I just used the "centered" parameter for 2 and 3 line screens...but I'd like to do the following...
In a 2 line screen, I'd like to have a blank line in line 1, We were both young is line 2 and when I first saw you is line 3. Then I'd like a blank line in line 4
A TYPICAL 2 LINE SCREEN
BLANK
We were both young
when I first saw you
BLANK
A NORMAL 4 LINE SCREEN
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
on a balcony in summer air
A TYPICAL 3 LINE SCREEN
BLANK
See the lights
See the party
The ball gowns
~
This always keeps the lines in exactly the SAME position on the screen where line 4 is always on line 4. In your current mode anything other than the 4 line typically centers the 3 and 2 line screens in the middle of the screen. This affects the final look and how your program displays the 2 and 3 line screens in overwrite mode once you prepare your CD+G for mastering.

Your lyrics should look like this:
u]A TYPICAL 2 LINE SCREEN
_
We were both young
when I first saw you
_
A NORMAL 4 LINE SCREEN
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm standing there
on a balcony in summer air
A TYPICAL 3 LINE SCREEN
_
See the lights
See the party
The ball gowns
~
Remember to insert those hard spaces
BEFORE starting syncing.
I usually align the lyrics to the top
of the screen, filling in any needed
blank lines in the bottom.
You really need to check each screen
in the preview window (place the cursor in the
lyrics window) BEFORE starting syncing.
inserting or deleting from the lyrics
without affecting timing is not easy,
and sometimes you'll loose the entire timing.
Save often!
If you edit in the lyrics window,
remember to save the lyrics as .txt.
