|
|
I'm thinking about getting a new laptop exclusively for running karaoke shows. It has to be able to send videos from the computer with split screen where I can do my KJ programming yet play the singers songs on the monitors. It has to be capable of handling both the newer TV monitors and the older coaxial TV's that you use when you go out in public.
It has to be fast yet not too expensive and dependible. It would be nice to have a webcam built in on it but it is not necessary. It also has to have a burnable DVD drive. I will be running all my songs off of a external hard drive.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Larry

Hi Larry
I run house parties with my laptop. It's an acer aspire 9503ewsmi which my husband bought for me about 5 yrs ago.
It don't have a camera on it which you wouldn't need to use for your karaoke party. I would highly recommend you buying a terrabyte external hard drive to use and store your karaoke songs as the memory in a laptop isn't large enough. I bought my terrabyte for less than 200.00 at future shop. I also use Siglos karaoke player program to run for my parties.
With your laptop make sure you have the s-video capability as this is what allows you to split your laptop screen to a tv. You will need to also have a s-video cable to be able to split your screens. This is a special request you'll have to ask the company who you buy your laptop from. This doesn't come standard.
Also, for your dvd burner, laptops and computers do not incorporate a dvd burner that burn cd+g's. You could purchase the dvd burner from power karaoke for this option.
I bought a plextor px 716A before I was given my laptop which is an amazing burner. It's retail approximately 300.00 (cndn). It burns cd+g's on both cd & on a dvd. I bought both the cdg & dvd burner from Power Karaoke which both work extremely well with my plextor burner.
If you have any other questions, pls msg me
Good luck. |

Hi Larry
I forgot to mention.
Also, for your dvd burner, laptops and computers do not incorporate a dvd burner that burn cd+g's. You could purchase the dvd burner orogram from power karaoke for this option.
You'll still need a cd+g external burner to burn your karaoke songs. |

Just a side note for others who are thinking of buying a new computer for ripping CDGs down to HD. Make sure the DVD burner supports CD+G.
I have a SONY laptop and the BD-DVD is made by MATSHITA. MASHITA drives do not support CD+G. I ended up buying a Toshiba external drive just so I can play/burn CD+Gs. |
