Though the program works fine and at proper speed if I'm making a compilation disc, when I make an exact duplicate disc for backup, the burn (write) takes forever, like it was burning at x1, even if I set it to x4 or x8.

I am using an old, but lightly used Dell Inspiron. The HD is 70% EMPTY. I run cleanups, Internet option deletions, RegSupreme registry cleaner, and defrags regularly, and have absolutely no problems with the machine.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Did you try to copy discs using Rip and Burn, instead of Copy tab?

No, as I didn't want the tracks in MP3 form- I'm one of those freaks that can hear the difference.

You may rip to BIN or CDG+WAV. There is no compression in case of those formats.

When I do, it's 1x speed no matter where I set it. That's what I'm trying to solve

So when you burn CDG+MP3 the burn speed is as set, and when you burn CDG+WAV the burn speed is always x1?
