I own and use PowerKaraoke in my bar. I love the product!
Here is my dream:
I have about 53,000 songs to choose from and this is too big a list to print into a catalog.
I would like to have a stand alone (Kiosk) computer that customers can access to search for songs very much like the Karaoke program does. It would be like the Add Singer screen but only have the Artist and Title options for searching. Once a song has been found the ideal thing would be for the customer to be able to send it to my Karaoke Operator via some kind of network message. The message would have to be able to have space for a name and any special notes like a key change or other requests.
I would also present the search screen on a big screen TV from my computer so other clients can get ideas of what to sing.
I told you it was a dream. Now I really like making dreams come true. How do we do it?
I am a computer tech but don't have time to get back into programming. My bar takes too much time.

That's a really good suggestion, but the first problem would be that all your laptops will need to be on a network. Once your network is established, the request would be able to be sent, but that would take another program because you would want the request sheet to be as simple and user friendly as possible. I think this is where the problem would be. Trying to create the program. But this is a really good suggestion none the less. I have seen venues where the KJ uses separate laptops setup throughout the room and the singer would find their songs on the laptop and fill out a request sheet and bring the request to the KJ. |

There a just shy of 400,000 Karaoke discs of all manufacturers. This is the size of my karaoke player/songbook program database. Just have program create a new book for each location you do karaoke at, takes 2 seconds per book. Then use "build book" selection to scan your zip files, save the file locations and select the file from the database for your book. Takes about 15 minutes per 10,000 zip files. When finished in Player mode your Songbook is built, your files are indexed, a history file is built for this book and the player is ready to play any song that is in your book.
If in Songbook mode you can select any song in your book by title or artist indexed by first letter or number in the title or artist. On first click on song index a voice tells you the song name. If double clicked the song is selected and the Songbook askes you for your name and you use the index keys on the screen with your mouse to enter your name then click OK. A printout is sent to a receipt printer and your selection is sent via network to another computer which is running the same program in Player mode. Unlimited songbook computers can be run remotely!
Player takes in remote requests from all remote stations and stores in hold buffer or rotation buffer depending on which is selected. KJ has full control of where in the rotation buffer the song is and can move or delete song at will. The song at the top of the buffer can be set to auto load/play or load/play can be done manually. When played any key up or down is applied. When finished the song, singer with key info is stored in history for this book, key is reset to "0", deleted from rotation buffer and all songs in rotation are moved up.
There a 3 MP3 players, 1 for normal play, 1 for filler music and 1 for MP3 only play. Multiple unlimited books can be setup for different locations each having it's own history file thereby keeping each location's history seperated and unique. Books can be copied to other books. MP3 songs can also be put into rotation for karaoke breaks or on auto used as a jukebox.
2 or 3 displays can be selected and used with 1 for Player, 1 for performer and 1 for upnext screens (3). Or 1 for Player, 1 for performer or upnext (2) with the second display swithing between performer and upnext.
Songbook can be called by player if KJ desires to select a song and any name can be entered by KJ. There is no need in most cases for the KJ to enter a singers name or song since the singer does this when he selects it from book. Playlists are obsolete and you never have to waste your time or money printing out songbooks since they are automatically created.
No more Songbooks to make!
No more looking up songs!
Songbook was written so that even a drunk can do it!
Database for new cds is updated monthly as cds are released!
Features are to many to list here!
This is not a dream it is done tested and will go on sale soon! |

| Workmen, how are the laptops networked together? This sounds like you need to purchase a whole new karaoke system and not just a "song request" system. I personally love Karaoke Pro and what it can do. |

Look I think this company builds many good products! I personally use power cd+g burner and find it superior to others except that it doesn't have a definable database link so that it can use a standalone database that the user can setup and freedb sucks! I also use their power cdg developer control in my program! I am sure their Karaoke Pro works fine and is as good as most on the market but technology and capability keep on moving and improving!
Wireless laptops are standard in the industry and adhoc or wireless routers are lowcost ($25)! If I told you how easy it was to setup you would not believe it! The remote wireless songbook sw was written in 2007 and has been in use since then! Runs great! Takes 2 minutes to teach a drunk and has written along with speech instructions for the sober! Only my software along with 2 Wireless laptops, a Wireless router (connected to the internet or not), a vga monitor or tv with rf modulator for performer/upnext display and a epson tm220 receipt printer is needed! Best to use mouse on laptops and only a mouse is needed for user to remotely select a song! No keyboard is needed by user and a touchscreen can be used in place of a mouse!
If you just wanted a song request system then my sw, a laptop and epson tm220 receipt printer is all that is needed since the user can bring the printed slip to the KJ which has their name, cd#, track, title and artist! |

At this time trademark and copyright registration are going on since I have been advised implied copyright is just to costly to maintain. Due to this there is no website yet but it is coming! Compuhost is the closest to my product but is still lacking.
The products and support at this site are top notch and I have no wish or need to undermine them! I just saw several feature requests here that were on target for new products that are just out or are coming soon to the Karaoke/Jukebox world! Asong is the corporate name.
With KIAA enforcing copyright violations by computer formatted Karaoke DJs/KJs/Clubs it now is becoming more profitable for legally setup people in the Karaoke Industry! This is allowing them to invest more dollars on Karaoke hardware, software and CDs. |

I am sorry, but I had to remove the link. This forum is for Doblon software only. Please use PM or email to continue this conversation in private. |
