...adding "volume normalization" to the player.
I bought the software and used it durring my last gig (last weekend) but I ran into problems immediately.
I loved the demo software because it allowed karaoke files, MPG and MP3 to be played from the same player. Since my show is a mix of all of these files types I purchased Siglos and attempted to fully convert to it.
The problem is that my file collection has different volume levels (some dramatically different) and it impacted the show in a negative way. I was basically pinned down to the console with my right hand hovering over the main-level volume knob to make adjustments as each new track started playing.
Unfortunately I will be going back to using a different MPG player that has volume normalization. At least that way I can queue up a few songs and use the restroom without having to worry about blasting people off of their chairs when a different song starts playing....
I will still be using Siglos for playing the karaoke files but it's really a shame that the MPG and MP3 player functionality does not meet my need.
Please, please, please add volume normalization to a future version!
I'm sure most (if not ALL) KJ/DJ's that use multiple media types will have this problem unless their entire collection has been meticulously manicured and in the case of MPG's, completely transcoded. |
