I have a line in device (the output of a mixer to which a mic is attached) running into the "line in" of my sound card. I can set up the recording preferences, including the input level, and see test input.

While recording, I also see values on the meter. However, the recording level control stays stuck on 0 (It will move to a different position, but returns to 0 after losing focus), and the output mp3 is, for all intents and purposes, blank (It has some of what appears to be extremely low-level noise).

Any ideas?

Are you able to record from microphone input?

I didn't try with an actual sound source - I was worried about relative volume levels.

I did try changing the input to "Mic", and noted that the Recording Level on the front panel was still stuck at 0.

I'll have some freedom to play with it some more this Tuesday - it's a very busy weekend.
