Dear All:
I coplained in August 2007 that Power Video Karaoke does not merge under Vista a background video with the synchronized song.
Vista closes power Video Karaoke without offering a solution
The answer of the administrator Pjotr was, a solution will be publishe in September.
In October I tested again, same result. This time I got the following answer in this forum:

The new product for karaoke videos is being developed. It will be released before the end of this year.

Now is Mid of January 2008.
The release of Power Video Karaoke is still the same, 1.2.28.
The behavior under Vista is still the same, the program collapses.
WHAT WILL BE THE SOLUTION???
By the way, your statement at your homepage that your programs are Vista Compatible is simply a ly!

I understand your frustration for the program not working, but Vista compatibility is not a lie. We are able to generate videos with background on our test machines running Vista using AVI and MPEG. The problem is that when encoding MPEGs with audio track the program plays audio when rendering.
I admit that we promised to deliver the new software, but it is not ready yet and we cannot release it.
Having said that maybe there is a way to get the current version of Power Video Karaoke working on your Vista machine. Have you tried using AVI as background? Also please try installing a codec pack on your machine (you may get K-Lite codec pack from http://www.free-codecs.com). _________________ Piotr

Dear All,
Some days ago I complained about the compatibility of Power Video Karaoke (PVK) and Vista. Vista collapsed when I wanted to merge a MPEG2 background video with the synchronized song. Thanks intensive e-mail interchange with Piotr and a number of tests I performed today, the way to get approriate results is now found.
Note:
It is NOT a lie that PVK is compatible with Vista, as stated in my post before. PVK is compatible with Vista!
The question is only, to know how;
The way of encoding I performed successfully is as follows:
1. I prepared a slideshow with Nero Vision 5.
2. I exported the slideshow from Nero to the harddisk
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT is at this spot the choice of the file type and of the codec in Nero Vision 5:
The file type should be .AVI
The Codec that delivers excellent results is MainConcept DV Codec 2.0.4 (meanwhile I downloaded the trial version of 2.4.16 that provides excellent results, too).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. In a first trial I choose in PVK for the output file type after the merger also .AVI format with the same MainConcept codec. The encoded final Karaoke video was excellent
4. As I personally burn my Karaoke to a DVD, the choice of .AVI file type as output after merging was not convenient for me. So I changed in the PVK merger process the output format to MPEG2 video type, DVD compatible.
No problem was experienced, the result is excellent.
My input of the background video to Power Video Karaoke is now .AVI format and my output format of the final Karaoke Video is now MPEG2, DVD compatible.
The lesson I learned from these trials is that at Vista PVK should solely be fed with background videos that are clean coded into an .AVI container.
The Karaoke output file type of PVK to be provided after the merger can be chosen as per options, PVK provides.
Personally, I'm again very satisfed with the performance of Power Video Karaoke even under the conditions of MS-Vista.
With regards
