If you want to keep an empty screen, you may use Clear Screen event, type in an empty line with separator characters, and synchronize it, so that the lyrics screen will remain empty until regular lyrics are supposed to appear.

Could you please describe the problems you were experiencing with more details? Were you able to load an original siglos.db file into your new setup? Did you try using Tools -> Validate Songs in Song Database to check a consistency of the database? What kind of error messages did you get?
