All music is on an external drive through usb-c

I've been experiencing a little glitch in the song playing whether it is a karaoke song or background music, when I add a singer or even add a song to someone already in the rotation, the music cuts for a split second, haven't had this issue on my other laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
