Merging Singers

Post by StepUP »

Suppose I have one singer who went by Sam (last week) and Sam B (this week). I'd like to merge their song history. Is there a way to tell Siglos that these are actually only one person?

Ok, please keep me posted and pass along how to do it, once it's available.

I'd still like to have this feature... hoping I can regenerate interest in implementing it.

Renaming Singer and Keeping Past History

Post by DFT »

Well maybe not exactly what you are looking for, but ...

Open the 'Add Singer/ Song ...' window and click on the 2nd down text box icon titled "Edit Singers..."

When this window opens scroll down (or search) for 'Sam.' Highlight his name and then to the left there is an "Rename" box. Click this and you can make him 'Sam anything you choose' with his history carried over.

that's always good for new people to know, but it does not let you take "Dave B" and "Dave Brown" and merge their histories together.

Understood ... which is why I said "not exactly what your are looking for."

But still better than nothing. :D

In a similar vein, I'd never add a singer by a single first name and always add the last initial. Sure, you are still going to get another 'Mary S,' but 'Mary S (2)' and 'Mary S (3)' are a lot better than 'Mary (34)' and 'Mary (35).'

Finally, I have a habit of asking any singer that I can't absolutely identify, "Have you sung here before?" You can then advise them about their history and make an edit to the name if they'd like.

Work-arounds will always be part of the game.

So, how about doing this "simple" task?

i'm excited for this improvement as well, but keep in mind there are only a few developers and a lot of different softwares that need attention.
we commandeered the developers for a significant amount of time revising and reworking the request system in SKP to the detriment of other softwares in their catalog. they need time to catch upo on updates and projects in those other programs.
it will come.... be patient (man i hate saying that word....)

It's been a month and a half. What do you consider to be a reasonable time to wait?

If you don't want to put energy into supporting the software, perhaps you should be clear about this when people are considering paying for it.
