I need to host a karaoke party.
I have a rather new laptop that I would like to use, as well as an stereo system (with the input/output component plugs in the stereo system)

I guess my question is how to setup a microphone (probably wireless) to the laptop soundcard and have the microphone and the sound go out through the stereo.

Does this sound reasonable? Any gotchas?

You just have to configure the the Playback Properties in the Windows Mixer so to enable (unmute) the WAVE and MICROPHONE tracks. However, better solution would be to use an external audio mixer.
