Using an external hardrive

Post by 1okedoke »

Hey there,
Just a general question. I have decided to use an external hard drive that includes all of my karaoke files on my new laptop.
When you import your karaoke library from the external hardrive, are all the karaoke files stored on the laptop's c drive aswell thanks?

Hi there,
If I decide to not go with the external hardrive way, what laptop would be ideal to use that would easily contain my 30.000 zip cdg - mp3 files in the c drive thanks?

If you use an external drive the songs are only there and the database is in C, unless you choose to put it elsewhere. However, be sure to back up your song files to a backup drive. The database serves as a mapping system to organize and find your song files. Hope that helps.

When using an external hard drive you need to make sure its assigned drive letter does not change after it is reconnected.

The choice is yours. Just make sure you have all your karaoke song files backed up elsewhere. You seem to be making the situation more complicated than it actually is.

Some say it's harder for your computer to search for songs if your files are on your laptop's c drive than if they are on an external hardrive.
I have a laptop with 1 T so there is plenty of room.
I have 30,000 karaoke files.
I do have a backup of my songs.
Just wanted your thoughts thanks.

they would be incorrect. the onboard drive at SATA speed will be faster than going through USB.
