Older registration for new version?

Greetings. When the software prompts me to check for updates, it shows I don't have the latest version, and it takes me to the page where I can download it. However, I don't believe my registration code will work on the newer version; I would end up with only the trial version. Is that correct? Does anyone know if we're required to purchase a new code for the newest version?

When a new release of the program is being installed an information is displayed stating possible options. In general if your year of free updates&support has passed, you probably need to renew the program license in order to unlock its latest version.
