parsing rule

Is there any way you can add another parsing rule? ( Title - Artist - Disc ID ) that way perhaps it will save a little time when adding video files. SKP doesn't seem to index accordingly with any of the current ones (for me leastways) I always have to edit them after import. Thanx in advance.

You may choose "Other" option in the drop-down list, and then define your own name parsing rule matching your requirements.

i tried that too. but alas still had to edit it in the manage songs window after import. not a major problem compared to the others on the list i sent you to deal with..lol

if you had to edit it afterwards, something was off in the parsing rule. i have had to do a song several times until i figured out i had a " -" instead of a " - " in one spot.

I have to do it with every video file. all my file are named exactly same way both mp3g and video "title - artist - disc id". i have tried the drop down and selecting other with the parameters "title - artist - disc id - ignore" since it wont let me completely drop the " - ignore" this is why i asked for the new parsing rule. that way i can see if it changes anything or whether i am stuck always editing any videos that i add to my database.

is it just video files?

Yep only my video files need to be edited after import. I can import a couple hundred zipped mp3gs and 5 videos, for example, all the zipped files are fine but all 5 videos would have to be edited.

2 more...
what format are the videos?
is the "read from mp3 tag" box checked?

they are .mpg and I have tried both with and without the check.

ok, im trying to figure out what could cause that.
the parsing rule works since the zip files get imported correctly, so there has to be another hang up.
for giggles, can you try adding "MPG" to the custom extensions area?
i know it is in the regular files to include, but if there is some hickup in that part...
also, uncheck the "add unmatched files" box. let's see if it just ignores the files when it sees them as incorrectly named.

Nope. Tried those too. Either adds and I have to edit or it doesn't add and I still have to edit and add manually.

But I just noticed it is adding zip same as video if the read ID3 tag is unchecked. So I would have to edit that one too or readd it with read tag box checked. Another bug discovered lol.

wait a minute....
if read from mp3 tag is unchecked it wont import the zip?
i never have that checked and all mp3 zips and video files import perfectly.
can you post a screen shot of the parsing rule on your comp and of a video file name?
also, when it just adds the file, it gives it some name of some kind (usually all as the artist, or just in the wrong column) what DOES it name the file as in the database. that may help me figure out where the problem is occurring in the grand scheme of things.

sent ya an email with the screen caps. It names the file by the filename as the title. the file being imported was a zip. the pix show the result with the read id tag unchecked.

wouldnt let me drop the pix on here. but my filenames are all "title - artist - discid" as per the request for a matching parsing rule. it name it as the filename as the title (videos are the same result)
