SKP is slow until the scan stops

When I start SKP It will run real slow when searching for songs and when the song is found it takes a long time for the window to close to add the singer to the rotation. After about 2 hrs. a window pops up and says it found some songs not in the data base and gives me some options. I always say no because I'm in the middle of a show. It runs fine after that. Is there a way to stop the software from scanning the database every time it's opened? Otherwise I have to start the program a least 2 hrs before the show.
