SKP direct cd playing

i have been having this issue with scratched discs. it will start skipping, then either freeze onit's own, or i hit "go to next" or "restart" and SKP will lock up requiring task manager to shut down.
the disc is readable because if i use a ripperit rips clean and plays fine, only during direct play does this issue happen.
