I have finally setup my karaoke library on my new notebook pc, it plays great with the Siglos program. Now I want to use the notebook to play karaoke on a bigscreen tv. I have ordered a pc to tv converter box with proper vga/rca cables etc. but here comes th $64.00 questain......
How do I use my karaoke microphones???? I have both corded and wireless mics (1/4" plugs) that I use with CAVS DVD 203G system, but that system has nothing to do with what I am trying to do here. Do I need some additional equipment???

Most of use use a cord to come out of the computer to a power Amp and then you plug your mic's in to the prower amp. There are many different types and prices so the choses is your.

First of all, what were you going to use to listen to the music? Do you have a mixer with speakers? Is your CAVS setup at home? If your CAVS is setup at home and you're going to play your karaoke at home, what you could do is use a mini plug to a 1/4 in plug and plug the mini plug into the speaker jack on your notebook and the 1/4 in jack to the mic input of your CAVS. The only problem would be that your CAVS only has two mic inputs so you can only use a single mic, unless you have the wireless mic that has several mics. If you have a mixer it will make things a lot better, because depending on the size of your mixer, you can connect a lot of mics. The audio connection possibilities is endless.

Thanx for the responses

Thank you for your responses. What I want to do is have a portable karaoke system that I can use at home & carry along to friends homes for informal karaoke fun. I have a small notebook pc loaded with Siglos player/recorder software and several thousand mp3g songs. all I am trying to do is connect the laptop to my/their tv and play the songs, but I am not sure how to handle the microphones so we may sing along!? The simpler the better as far as I'm concerned, be it through the tv or (Heres where I have no idea) ??? mabye a wireless mic to some type of mixer/amp/stereo ??? what would you recommend? I want to try to keep it simple for portabality. So far everything fits into a computer carry case.

Thank you for your help.

What I would suggest then is to buy a very small powered mixer and a couple of speakers. This way you can take the whole system with you and not worry if your friend's house has a amp that you can connect to. One other suggestion is to take your CAVS player with you and connect it to your friend's amp (providing he has one) then use the connection suggestion I gave earlier.

Hornet - thanks for the info! I have ordered a 5 input powered mixer from Amazon, very reasonable at $40.00 w/ free shipping. But one word of caution here....included with this order I ordered several differing cables and 1/4 " adaptors to mini-plugs, rca plugs etc and ended up paying another $12.00 PLUS $31.00 shipping! What a rip! Each of the extras come from separate suppliers one charged $21.00 s/h for a 3.99 cable.
It wasn't obvious to me until I finalized the order, Live and learn on this one.
Thanx again for your input.

now that you have a power mixer what speakers are you going to run it to? make sure that the speakers will handle the power output of the mixier.

Dana, I have chose an all in one speaker set from "thedeepdiscount" on EBay, they are listed as "800W 2-way PA Pro Audio Subwoofer speaker system" priced at $49.99 they accepted my "best offer" of $40.00 w/free shipping. This will hopefully complete my project! :P
