Vocal Remover

I purchased your software and like it very much.
But in my "research" I see that your Vocal Remover program removes the vocals from the music that has been ripped to the computer.
Other programs say that you must remove the vocals using the original cd. A user had already commented on what he considered a better program for removing the vocals, that is done that way.
Is one way better than the other, why, and is this something you plan to change or address?
Thanks

All vocal removers work in the same way -- they assume that vocal is mixed equally between both stereo channels. There are some tricks that can make this work a little better (bass and trebble filtering), but they do not make a big difference. And yes, using MP3 files makes it even worse -- to remove vocals make sure that you rip audio from CD to WAV file.
We will add bass and trebble filtering to our vocal remover some day, but as I wrote before -- this will not make a big quality difference.

Thanks for your fast response!
Forgive my ignorance, but can you be specific on what I can do Bass and Treble -wise to help? A few tricks are always appreciated...
Also.... I am an idiot savant computerwise, I can do a lot but don't know terminology,
so.... English? please?

You cannot do anything -- it is something we need to add to vocal removing algorithm. The idea is to take some low range frequencies unmodified and pass them to the result file (they do not contain vocal). The same can be done with high frequency band. This can also be achieved in audio editing software like Audacity.

I will look for it, thanx.
Spending alot of money on software, there wouldn't be a trial version would there?
