Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder 2 crashes using video

Hi,
I have been emailing back and forth with support for WEEKS trying to solve an issue with using videos as the background.
It's gotten to the point where we're just going around in circles; support has literally sent me the same failed suggestions twice and hasn't offered anything new to try. I really want to get video background running before Halloween, as I have a party and really want to use the spooky backgrounds I have.
The program will run normally when using slideshow or plain backgrounds. When using the video background option, it will run fine for a few minutes, then crash as soon as any control buttons are pushed or when choosing a new song, particularly if I hit the STOP button.
I have reduced the resolution and file size of the .avi files I want to use.
I have run the registry editing reset file... on two separate occasions.
I have the most recent version of the software.
I have installed the K-Lite Codec pack recommended by support... which actually makes the problem worse because the program crashes upon opening ANY file with video. I have since uninstalled the codec pack.
I have sent log files after doing ALL of these things to support.
I am running Windows 8 with IntelĀ® CeleronĀ® Processor 1005M (1.90GHz 1600MHz 2MB) and 8gb RAM.
If anyone has any suggestions that haven't been tried yet, I would be really grateful.
