Windows Media Player no longer plays MPEG file after Siglos

Post by pinballwizard76 »

:( Yesterday I installed the Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder on both a desktop and a laptop running Windows XP Professional. I found out today that on both machines, Windows Media Player 11 no longer plays MPEG file types. AVI still works fine. I have totally uninstalled and re-installed the media player on both machines on still have the same problem. Anyone know what the Siglos install has done to corrupt the codec that was being used before to play this file type????

Siglos does not install any codecs, so I suspect this is coincidence. You may try reverting your system using System Restore, also please try installing -Lite codec pack and see if it helps:

Thank you very much for pointing me to the k-lite Codec pack! It worked!

I read what you said about Siglos not installing codecs, but what are the chances that the problem occurred on 2 different machines after the install?

I really appreciate the willingness of users on the net to help non-power users with issues they encounter....
