Search does not work

Post by bebbaboo »

I am a new user of the Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder. I really love the software, but the Search function does not work at all. I have my playlist loaded, and can see all the songs and times. When I click on Search I get the "Song search" window with a "Search for text:" box. I can also see all the songs in the lower part of the window. However, when I enter anything in the search box everything disappears from the lower section (even with the first letter - such as "A") and nothing is found. Is something wrong with the software, or am I just not doing something right? Help!

addendum: I did discover that a number search DOES work. This doesn't do me a whole lot of good, but if I enter a number, it will pull up all entries that have that number in the title. Letters DO NOT work. Do I need to run an index or something. PLEASE HELP!

my first thought would be how are they named.
example, if the artist is not in the artist field when they show up at the bottom of the screen, that would cause such an issue. seen it happen before, hell, i have misnamed files before and gotten that problem.

Can you explain a little what you mean? I just have my files named like Ella Fitzgerald - Summertime.bin

I don't see anything at the bottom of the screen, and I don't see where you enter the name in fields.

when you import the song you must have then named in the parsing rule the same as the rule setting or you have to change the setting to match the name of the file before you import them. Such as
DiskID - Title - artist Or DiskID - Artist - Title the space and - or _ in the title must match exactly and you should have the unmatched files box checked that way if they are not exact the entire file will go into the title and still show up It took me a while to get use to this myself. What I did was play with three or four of them until I got it right then i added them all.
Hope this helps.

Dana,

bebbaboo uses standard version of Siglos, not the Pro one, and there is a simple search feature that allows to search the program playlist.

bebaboo,

The problem is specific to your machine, as we do not have similar reports from other users, and we were not able to reproduce it on our test machines. Nevertheless, we will try to find out what may cause the issue.

Sorta figured it out

Turns out the search does not recognize capital letters at all. However, it works fine with lower case. So if I am looking for Etta James, I just have to enter "etta james" and it finds all the songs.

Thanks for helping this newbie out!
