NOOB - With a daughter that loves to sing - what do I need?
I have seen Karaoke at clubs and church
So I understand the concept and think it is very cool.
I want to setup a karaoke system so that my daughter can have a working Karaoke system at home. We want to be able to add to her library of songs by downloading files. Not interested in "creating" karaoke songs - at least for now.
Can I use a PC for the host platform or maybe even an I pad?
What do I need?
Thank you for your help.

Turns your pc into a nice karaoke player. Easy and simple to use, you daughter will be singing her heart out in no time....
There are other programs, but this is 'the best' (I say that from recommendations I have read and also as one that uses the program nearly every day).
When you say 'download' the music, be sure you mean 'paid for' sites - that is a pretty sticky subject in the industry. You can also play YouTube videos and download them for later play, etc. as well as record her 'masterpieces' and put them on a CD (maybe for her grandchildren to listen to????
Well, that is my recommendation (and I also recommend this program to my own family members that ask for a 'home' karaoke system).
I'm sure you won't be disappointed in this player.

Some songs have the 'helper' voice on one track and you can 'turn it off' by turning the volume down on your PC speakers (or in the volume control software), but then you only hear music from one speaker. That may work for you, for awhile, but to get a better sound (and, in my opinion, the 'right' way...) you should buy discs with both the 'helper' and the 'music only' versions of the same song - then, you just play that version (i.e., different track).sbn wrote:While learning to sing the songs it would be good to sing with the recorded voice and then turn it the recorded voice down and then eventually off so she sing by herself.

you might give that a look......
- I have been purchasing my discs from a store or online (as disc collections, etc.) and then storing them on hard drive via the tools in the Siglos products, so I really haven't done any buys from a CDG files site.
I do 'recommend' that you get the (again, IMHO) 'best' quality sound discs, which come from SoundChoice (hope I'm not stepping on any copyrights or anything here....) - I've bought some 'other' discs for the song selection (and, yes, sometimes to save a bit of money), but the difference in quality is, to me, worth the extra cost (I am kind of a music lover and sometimes just sit and listen to the music from the SC discs instead of the 'original' songs with the artist singing, but I can't stand to listen to the 'other' discs like that - makes me grind my teeth!)
