SKP 2.0.30 WIN8 issue
Bought a new computer, loaded up Siglos 2.0.20, unlocked it, imported my library, and ran off to test it for a show.
The computer is an HP with Intel Core i3-4030, 8GB RAM. Siglos opens, I can set all the settings and access menus fine, but when I go to add a singer, when I try to search using any search method, it takes 35 to 40 minutes to catch up to whatever I type in - then another 15 to 20 minutes to search, and another 8 to 10 minutes to add a selection to the rotation. When I hit START it starts within 3 to 4 minutes.
I have all the machine's settings cranked up for performance, all power saving is off, and no difference.
On my six-year-old dual-core AMD Sempron machine with 4GB and Windows 7, SKP runs perfectly with no lag or issues whatsoever.
Please help with ideas...? I'd rather enjoy running an up to date machine!

Please try running this registry script:
http://www.powerkaraoke.com/download/si ... efault.reg
It should revert all settings to default. If it does not help please delete siglos.db file from My Documents/My Karaoke.

Followed instructions, also upgraded to latest version, still same issue. Most notably, it hangs at the second letter I input to the global search.
I switched to a beast of a machine, AMD octocore with 32GB RAM and dual Radeon R9 video cards, thinking it was a perfomance issue.
No luck.
The only way to run a show now is to keep the compatibility troubleshooter open, and when the program hangs (every other song when using compatibility mode) kill the process, re-open SKP, and start over.
Please help, this is getting old.

Well that changed where it hangs...
Also odd that it's just as slow and hangs just as much with a beastly 8 core gaming rig as it does on an older A8 based unit with only 4gb ram! Also, I have noticed a lot more hanging and crashing on Intel based units.
However, keeping the main thing the main thing, on my AMD based unit on which I use the program for shows, it still hangs. Changing to 7 characters helped a little, maybe, but it still is dreadfully slow, and still hangs frequently upon search and singer select and song start. Usually hangs most and worst on search.

turn off ALL user account controls, and turn off windows defender, then set Siglos to run as administrator. set your search to 4 characters, and that should do it (or 7 like Adam suggested, just makes things like U2 and 311 tough to look up, just add a bunch of spaces afterwards).
basically what happens is UAC looks at the program and anytime it asks to search the DB it re-verifies that the request is ok. then loading the song into the software takes another check by that AND through windows defender. then playing requests again and the stream goes through windows defender. not sure why, the dj players dont have that issue, but somethign in Siglos is pissing off UAC and Defender so just disable them completely and you will get faster.
