CD+G MP3 to Video conversion request.

Post by Tommieoke »

Hi everyone, kinda new to all this.I have about 20,000 cd+g mp3 karaoke tracks on a computer that I wish to convert so they will play on a standalone mediaplayer which has a 160 gig hd that plugs directly into a tv. I purchased power cdg to video converter which does a great job.Thing is when I convert the files I'm left with 3 files for each song on the player, 1cdg, 1 mp3 file and 1 video file. I just want the video file only on the player to save space. How do I go about removing the cdg & mp3 files without having to delete them individually. This would take for ever. Should I convert them on the computer before transfering them to the player.Does this make sense. Also which format should I convert them to, AVI or MPEG. The player supports both, but if I want to burn dvds at some later is there any difference as far as file sizes and quality is concerned. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

I would suggest using AVI format -- it gives better quality than MPEG.

Regarding CDG and MP3 files -- you do not need to transfer those files to your standalone player, AVIs are all you need. If you have them there you may sort the file list based on file extension and remove CDG and MP3 files.

Thanks, how exactly do I go about selecting the files I don't need for removal. They are automatically duplicated in the conversion process. For instance would I preform this operation in windows explorer. Also on a different note now that I mentioned duplications, are there any progams that can remove songs tht are duplicated from song lists. In my collection I could have five different versions of say an elvis song.

Power CD+G to Video Karaoke Converter does not duplicate CDG nor MP3 files -- you are probably copying them yourself.

In Windows Explorer you need to select 'Details' view, click on 'Type' to sort files by extension, select the files you would like to delete (click on the first and then click on the last while holding SHIFT). Then simply delete them.
