What exactly is needed to burn a karoke CD?

Post by socaviking »

I am considering buying Power Karaoke but I want to make sure I understand what it can and cannot do.

What exactly is needed to burn a karoke CD that will play in a karoke machine?

I have read on these posts that mp3, cdg, and bin files are needed. But I have not read exactly what to do step by step (even in the "How to burn CD+G disc from files on your hard disc" file").

If I am searching for a song, (let's call it "Love Song") Do I need to find 3 files, LoveSong.mp3, LoveSong.cdg and LoveSong.bin? Or is there another file format I should be looking for? Like LoveSong.mp3g? OR do I have to make a bin file out of an mp3 and a cdg file sfirst?

To burn a CD that will play in my karaoke player, do I need to drag all 3 files into PowerKaraoke? Or just the bin? Or just the cdg and mp3? And how will I know if the cdg file and the mp3 file match each other - as in that they were from the same original Mp3+g file? (as in differnt versions where the lyrics in the cdg file may not sync to the music in the mp3 file).

And if I do need a cdg file and an mp3 file, where can I find files that match? (as in are from the same source)?

If someone could give me step by step instructions I would really appreciate it.

You need BIN file (with karaoke content) or CDG+MP3 files or CDG+WAV files. You can test the files before burning them using the demo of Power CDG Player Pro. Also note, the CD drive that supports CDG is required. In general, Plextor and Pioneer drives are recommended.

This post asks exactly what I am wondering, so I am bumping it.

So I have .cdg and .mp3 files that I downloaded - PowerKaraoke will NOT be able to make a CD+G disc out of these files?

Power CD+G Burner is the software you need to burn MP3+G (CDG and MP3 files) to create CD+G disc.

All I have are matching .mp3 and .cdg files. Do I have to purchase the Creator software in order to be able to make a CDG/MP3+G/BIN file before I can make this CD+G disc?

No -- Power CD+G Burner will do the job. Just drag CDG files on the burn list .

Your site suggests that a CDG file is different than a ".cdg" file. Are you saying this is not the case? If so, then what of the audio portion of the song? Also according to your site, the .cdg file is only the graphic part of the song, whereas the .mp3 file is the audio part.

If I ONLY have those two parts - as separate parts - I cannot use Power CD+G Burner to burn a CD+G disc, correct?

CDG and .cdg is the same. You need two files -- .cdg and .mp3 for every song. And you need to add .cdg file to the burn list, .mp3 is detected automatically.

The files you will purchase will be MP3+G files. Here are instructions on burning them:
