Keeping singers in rotation

Post by Dana48457 »

I noticed last night that the singer rotation isn't working well. Had a slow night because of the holiday here, only had 6 singers so everyone was doing 2 songs. I have one song that is named (No Song In Cue) and that is entered for every singer when the put in there first song. This keeps a song in for them at all times. Then I add their songs, while they are singing their first song I will go to their list of songs and click on their next song and click on the star to make that song next skipping other singers. This works just fine for them to sing their two songs. This is where the issue comes in. even if the next signer has a song in cue at times they will be skipped in rotation even at times going back to the singer that just sang. I would think that if all singers had songs in cue that they would stay in order without me having to keep moving them around or disabling them until they come up in rotation again. This doesn't keep the show from going on but just makes more work keeping the rotation in order. I like to use the computer to do this and not have to use paper and pencil like I use to.
Maybe you could take a look at this and come up with a fix, like something simple like some where you could check singer sings, 2,3,4, kind of like the change temp box. I am using the latest updates for karaoke Pro and keep updates fresh.
Thank You for your wonderful products.

clicking the star is where you are getting messed up. that overrides the rotation and makes that song next, thereby making that singer next. a simple way to avoid that is instead of hitting the star (it is working as it is supposed to) click the song you want next on their list as you have been but click the double up arrow. that will make that the next song for them to sing without changing their place in the rotation.

yes I know this will move the song up what I want to do is have each singer sing 2 or 3 songs while they are up. by doing this it lets them get in more songs for the night. Less time lost changing singers. there should be a way to have them sing 2 or 3 songs with out taking them out of rotation.

Dana, I made this suggestion a while ago, but because it was never added I'm assuming it is very low on the priority list for upgrade. Maybe Piotr or Adam will move it up on the to-do list.

Piotr or Adam, is there a chance that you could incorporate this feature into the next build? It's a feature that a lot of us KJ's could use.

Well what you could try in the mean time is just before song ends press restart delete the song he was singing which will move the next song up to top of that singers queue. then press start and it should let him sing another song. Or instead of deleting the song he was singing from his queue just move other one up till you press start then delete the one he already sang from his queue. Should work. Only a temp fix but i would think that would work?

it works if you just let the song play out and then highlight the singer that just sang and then click make this singer next and it puts him right back in rotation but like you say this is just a temp work around. would like to just click singer sings two songs and not have to worry about it. I am sure this is something that could be done. Thanks everyone for your input.

It may sound weird and add extra stuff to you database but why not put the singers name in twice with parenthesis like (1) or (second)?

I am sorry for the late reply.

Dana48457, did you try 'Wait for songs' option? This should keep singer in rotation even if there is no song in the singer's queue.

And we did some work on 'Make next' (star button) issue, it should hopefully work without any quirks in the next build.

Will give the wait for song option but still would love to see a option to chose the # of songs all singers can sing, and I am sure there are others that would like this option all so. Thanks for the Great Program and wonderful service.

If I want a singer to sing two or three songs in a row, I just type the person's name in twice or three times, just after each other, eg JOHN, JOHN JOHN.I know this is the long way round, but works for me!

After trying (Wait for song) which did not help at all. I either wait until the singer is finished singing and then click the next song in their cue and make that the next song and as long as I have a (no song in cue selected) a place holder song, in everyone's cue this seems to work to get them two songs and keeping them in cue but it is a lot of work would still like to see a, select number of songs for sing. 1, 2, or 3. and have this allow the singer to sing what ever is selected if they have that many songs in cue. if they only have 1 in cue and we are singing 2 songs per singer then it would wait until a song is added or the KJ clicks go to next. Hope you can take a look at this option as I am sure there are others that would like it.
