MIDI Karaoke Player Software for Windows PC

MIDI Karaoke Player Software

Play MIDI and KAR karaoke files on Windows

Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder 2 opens existing MIDI and KAR karaoke files on a Windows PC. Use it when you already have a .kar or .mid file and want to play the music while synchronized lyrics appear on screen.

MIDI stores musical performance data, while karaoke lyrics are separate data that may be included in the file. KAR is a common MIDI karaoke format, and many MID files also contain synchronized lyrics, but not every MIDI file does. The player can open both file types; whether lyrics appear depends on the contents of the selected file.

Format Supported by Siglos Player/Recorder?
MIDI / KAR karaoke Yes; .kar and .mid playback. Synchronized lyrics appear when they are included in the file.
CD+G discs and CDG files Yes
MP3+G / ZIP karaoke Yes
YouTube karaoke and video files Yes

How to open and play a MIDI/KAR karaoke file

  1. Open Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder.
  2. Click Load File.
  3. Select the .kar or .mid file you want to use. The file is loaded and added to the playlist.
  4. Click Play to start playback.
  5. Optional: choose Full Screen for the lyrics display. Press Esc to leave full-screen mode.

Customize MIDI lyrics in Siglos

Open Settings > Display to change the font used for MIDI karaoke lyrics, choose how many lyric lines are shown, and place the lyrics at the top, middle, or bottom of the screen.

If international characters do not display correctly, select an appropriate script and a font that contains the characters used by the song. These options change how available lyrics are displayed; they do not add lyrics to a file that contains music data only.

If the music plays but lyrics do not appear

First verify that the file is a MIDI karaoke file with synchronized lyric data. KAR is a common lyric-bearing MIDI karaoke format, and many MID files contain lyrics, but a standard MIDI file may contain only the musical performance. In that case, there is no synchronized karaoke text for the player to display.

The key changer is not available during MIDI karaoke playback. This is a MIDI-specific limitation, so do not use key-change availability in other formats as a test of whether the MIDI file loaded correctly.

Playback is different from creating a karaoke project

This workflow is for playing an existing MIDI/KAR karaoke file. If you need to import MIDI or KAR into an editable CD+G project, use AI Karaoke CD+G Creator; creating a project is a separate task from playback.

To evaluate playback with your own file, visit the Siglos Karaoke Player/Recorder product page and use its trial option. If you are comparing MIDI playback with other karaoke formats and player choices, see the karaoke player software guide.
